Artist's Statement ::
In this body of work, I am exploring the abstract nature of imagery. Much of my other work has a representational base that I divert from (considerably at times); here my diversion is more improvisational.
My emphasis is not only on the finished image, but the process of creating the image becomes important to me. I strive to leave traces in the finished piece of my interactions while working at the computer. I pay attention to the shape, color and “texture” within a piece. I am reaching inside, relying on my subconscious in to guide decisions as I work.
Even though I begin with a photo of an assemblage, I hope the viewer is not distracted by recognizable images and responds to the “feeling” of the piece.
